What is a Certified Senior Advisor?

Written by: Cypress HomeCare Solutions

Change is an inevitable part of life, and it can often be the most impactful as we age. When dealing with these changes, knowing where to turn can often be difficult and confusing. When you or your loved one begins to experience challenges associated with aging, you want to be sure that someone is there to advocate for your needs.

At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, we are proud to have such an advocate on staff. Professionally trained in understanding the needs of older adults, Laurie Fox, our resident care coordinator and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), has been helping seniors navigate the changes that come with age for over seven years. Laurie earned her certification in 2011, and is using her skills to help older people find and utilize the resources they so desperately need.

But what exactly is a CSA? Individuals who earn their CSA designation are professionals in the eldercare field who are seeking a way to better connect and assist seniors in their community. They undergo a rigorous training and testing process developed by the Society of Certified Senior Advisors to ensure they have extensive knowledge of the health, social and financial issues facing our older population. Understanding how to best communicate with aging adults allows CSAs to build effective relationships with them and lead them to the best resources to meet their needs.

For Cypress, relating to our clients is so important for their care, and with Laurie’s CSA designation, they can feel more at ease knowing that our care plans truly reflect their needs. Laurie adds that extra layer of comfort through her knowledge and expertise, and Cypress is glad to have her on our staff!
