Lacey’s Blog: A New Dawn for New Friends

Somewhere between all the rivalries, dog shows and strange holidays, I have made some really special visits this past month! I can’t stop thinking about all my new friends, and I can’t help but share it all with my readers.

At the end of January I was invited to New Dawn Memory Care in Sun City West. As soon as I walked in I felt right at home. The warm cackling fireplace and the sweet smiles on my soon-to-be friends’ faces were almost more than I could handle — I was so excited! It was the perfect time of day to cuddle up next to my new friends and show how much I love them (and of course get a few ear scratches for myself). Let’s just say it was hard to leave, especially with it being such a comfortable place!

As if things couldn’t get any better, I was asked just last week to make a visit to Friendship Village in Tempe. I made my way to the meeting room and everyone was sitting in a circle, waiting for me (now that’s a way to make a therapy pup feel doggone special)! It was wonderful to hear about the pets they used to have and see the joy in their faces. I was a bit confused when they were talking about tails, especially when one woman said that she “tells” hers now. First, what does she tell her tail? And second, does it listen? No matter what I say it seems my tail always has a mind of its own!

We finished the visit with one of Susie’s famous Lacey poems, many waves and a multitude of smiles. I felt like I really visited a village of friendship and I am so grateful to be invited to show my love!
