Health Tips for Female Caregivers

Written by: Cypress HomeCare Solutions

Thanks in part to our average life expectancy, women comprise the majority of family caregivers. Whether you are caring for a spouse, a parent, an adult child, or another loved one, it’s often the case that your own health needs take second fiddle to your loved one’s more urgent care requirements. And, if we’re honest, women are pretty good at putting the needs of others first. We have a lot of practice, especially if we’ve raised children.

This back-burnering of our own health needs is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is something to correct. This Family Caregiver Month, we’re here to remind you that you also matter. Share this infographic from Positive Health Wellness with the women in your family to show that you care – and if you are a caregiver, consider printing it out to remind yourself of these tips for healthy aging.

For men who care for their loved ones, we see you! Hopefully, you’ve aged gracefully past the idea that it’s somehow tough and masculine to never visit the doctor. Hopefully, you’ve decided you’re not too busy or working too hard to take care of the body that works for you. Many health issues can be prevented with annual checkups and daily healthy habits. So, set a good example and be proactive about your health.
