Infographic: Challenges and Triumphs for Dementia Caregivers

Written by: Cypress HomeCare Solutions

November 2017’s National Poll on Healthy Aging asked family caregivers to answer some questions about caring for a loved one with dementia.

These infographics tell part of the story:

In the past year 27% of caregivers used caregiving resources such as classes, support groups, trainings, and respite care. 41% of those who did not use resources expressed interest in using them.

We know, both from our personal and professional experiences, that providing care for someone with dementia is challenging. It should not be challenging to receive support in that role. Reach out to Cypress for respite home care, support, training, educational resources, and more.

To end on a positive note, 85% of caregivers reported caregiving to be a rewarding experience. 91% said that the experience of caregiving made them think about and plan for their own future care needs. More people are discussing end of life planning with their loved ones to make care transitions and end of life decisions easier.
