A 44-Year Legacy of Excellence Friendship Village Tempe first opened its doors in 1979, pioneering a new concept in senior living that focused on amenity-rich, active lifestyles. Now in its 44th year, the community continues that innovative spirit, constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of residents.

“We’re purveyors of fun,” Marvin shared. “People don’t want to just be ‘taken care of’ – they want to truly enjoy life.”

Living It Up with Pickleball, Brewery, and More To that end, Friendship Village offers an array of unique amenities one might not expect at a senior living community, such as rooftop pickleball courts, an onsite brewery, a duck pin bowling alley (coming soon!), and scenic rooftop dining with stunning views.

These exceptional amenities are part of the community’s new residential buildings, with the recently opened 40-unit Phase 1 and the 64-unit Phase 2 already fully leased up. Phase 3, with 69 apartments including 2,000 square foot penthouses, is in the planning stages.

A Focus on Dining, Technology, and Engagement In addition to first-class amenities, Friendship Village places a strong emphasis on culinary excellence with an “out-of-this-world” executive chef and farm-to-table cuisine. The community is also on the cutting edge of technology, with fiber internet, a custom app, and smart home capabilities.

Importantly, the community fosters deep engagement between residents and staff to create a vibrant social atmosphere. As Marvin explained, “The culture is organic and real. When new residents move in, the ‘Welcome Wagon’ embraces them with open arms.”

Serving the Full Continuum of Care While Friendship Village’s independent living apartments attract an average entry age of 76-77, the lifecare community also offers assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home health, and rehabilitation services. This full continuum allows residents to easily transition to higher levels of care if needed.

Looking Ahead to Meeting Increasing Needs With the aging population booming, innovative senior living models like Friendship Village Tempe will play a crucial role in providing enriching lifestyles and comprehensive care services. Under Marvin’s visionary leadership, the community is well-positioned for continued growth and success.

“There’s so much to learn from our residents and what they’ve seen and done over their 80-90 years,” Marvin reflected. “If you just listen, it’s incredible.”
