Building Connection Through Community
At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, we believe that aging well means living with dignity, purpose, and most importantly connection. That’s why we were thrilled to welcome Sidnee Peck back to the show. A serial entrepreneur and former ASU professor, Sidnee is the visionary behind Heirloom Collective, a nonprofit creating small-scale, intergenerational communities that blend older adults and young people in shared, supportive environments.
A Personal Mission, A Big Idea
Sidnee’s journey into aging innovation is deeply personal. After her father was diagnosed with young-onset dementia, she experienced firsthand the emotional toll caregiving can take. Later, as a foster parent, she saw how young people aging out of the system often lacked the social support needed to thrive.
“What I’ve learned from both the dementia and foster care worlds is that human connection is the secret sauce to a beautiful life,” she said.
That belief is the foundation of Heirloom Communities, where residents of all ages live together, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships that help fight loneliness and isolation.
Designing a New Kind of Village
The concept is simple, yet powerful: create communities of fewer than 40 units that prioritize connection over isolation. Heirloom’s first site is planned near downtown Mesa, in partnership with Catholic Charities. In the meantime, the organization hosts cooking classes, movie nights, and other in-person events, all while developing an AI-powered tool to help residents access the resources they need.
Sidnee envisions a future where the “village” model returns, updated for modern life.
“We’ve separated generations in pursuit of convenience or privacy. But what if the new status symbol wasn’t a big house with high walls, but a neighborhood full of people who care about you?” she asked.
Technology with a Heart
In addition to Heirloom, Sidnee is a cofounder of FemTech AZ, a growing movement to make Arizona a leader in women’s health innovation. From diagnostic tools to AI-powered platforms, FemTech AZ supports entrepreneurs building smarter, more inclusive health solutions for women.
