Redefining Elder Law Through Life Care Planning
At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, we know that great care involves more than legal documents or home visits. That is why we were pleased to welcome Caleb Lihn and Jenny Krulewich to the show. Their work bridges elder law and real-world caregiving in a way that truly supports families from every angle.

The Lihn Law Group, located in Peoria, Arizona, focuses on estate planning, Medicaid Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) navigation, and probate. What makes them unique is their life care planning model, which brings legal expertise together with hands-on care coordination. Lihn recognized that families often feel lost when navigating aging and long-term care. By adding Krulewich, a licensed social worker and certified dementia practitioner, to the team, the firm provides both guidance and direct support.

“We saw so many families without a quarterback,” said Lihn. “Krulewich helps us bring it all together.”

Helping Families Navigate Aging and Care
Krulewich starts with in-home assessments to understand each client’s daily routine, care environment, and challenges. From there, she creates a personalized roadmap that might include home care, meal support, transportation services, or referrals to senior living options.

“People tend to be reactive,” said Krulewich. “We help them plan proactively so they are not caught off guard in a crisis.”

This support is especially critical when families are applying for Medicaid benefits through Arizona’s ALTCS program. Lihn described a recent case where the state issued an official eligibility determination, only to later reverse it due to internal error. That decision put a client’s entire care plan at risk, prompting the firm to appeal and escalate the case to Superior Court.

“Our job is to advocate for fairness,” said Lihn. “We are committed to getting it right for the families we serve.”

“You are not only helping individual families,” Roth added. “You are improving the system for the whole community.”

Estate Planning as a Gift to Your Family
The discussion also covered estate planning essentials, including advanced directives, powers of attorney, mental health care planning, and special needs trusts. Lihn explained that these tools are not just for managing wealth. They are about protecting family members and ensuring clarity during health events, transitions, or end-of-life situations.

“Estate planning is a gift to your family,” said Lihn. “It avoids confusion, protects assets, and ensures that your wishes are followed.”

The team even helps clients plan for beloved pets through tools like pet trusts, making sure every member of the family is considered.

Advocacy Beyond the Office
The Lihn Law Group is deeply involved in policy and legislative advocacy. From challenging unfair benefit denials to testifying before the Arizona legislature, they are working to strengthen the systems that serve aging adults.

Roth highlighted this commitment, noting the importance of advocacy at both the individual and policy levels.

Building a Circle of Care
Lihn and Krulewich also lead the Elder Care and Legal Symposium, a biennial event that brings together healthcare professionals, elder law experts, and aging services providers. Their goal is to support what they call the “Circle of Care” by fostering collaboration across all areas of aging and long-term care. The next symposium is already scheduled for 2026.
