Breaking Down Barriers to Care

Eminence Medical Clinic was founded five years ago, just before the pandemic, by Ellis, a speech therapist-turned-clinical director, and Echeverri, a nurse practitioner with a background in emergency medicine. Their shared experiences, and Echeverri’s journey as a mother of a son with autism who struggled with traditional clinic visits, inspired them to create a practice that meets patients where they are: in their own homes.

Their model provides everything from preventive and primary care to urgent visits and chronic condition management, eliminating many of the obstacles that keep patients from seeking care. By delivering services at home, they reduce unnecessary ER visits and hospitalizations while helping patients feel safe and supported in familiar surroundings.

Care That Includes the Whole Family

Eminence goes beyond traditional primary care. Ellis and Echeverri see healthcare as a team effort that extends to the entire household. Whether coordinating with home health providers, caregivers, or specialists, their mission is to ensure continuity of care.

Patients appreciate that they don’t have to repeat their story to a new face at every visit. Instead, Eminence emphasizes consistency, building trust between patients, families, and providers. As Ellis put it, “Even if dad is the patient, we tell the family: your whole family is now our patient.”

Concierge-Level Care Without the Price Tag

While some may equate in-home medical visits with costly concierge medicine, Eminence rejects that notion. They accept Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and most major insurance plans. Their approach is about accessibility, not exclusivity.

From urgent needs like sutures or IV therapy to long-term management of diabetes, heart disease, or cognitive decline, their promise is to bring the highest level of care directly to patients — without additional fees or hidden costs.

Innovation Meets Compassion

Eminence is also embracing technology to improve care. With telehealth, AI-supported charting, and strong electronic health record systems, providers can spend less time on paperwork and more time focused on patients. But what truly sets them apart is the personal connection, no laptops blocking eye contact, no rushed appointments, just real relationships built in the comfort of home.

Looking Ahead

For Ellis and Echeverri, the future of Eminence Medical Clinic isn’t about rapid expansion. It’s about deepening their roots in Maricopa County, collaborating with trusted partners, advocating for patients, and continuing to provide a full circle of care that keeps families healthy at home.

“There’s no checklist to qualify for in-home primary care,” Ellis reminded listeners. “Home visits are for everyone. You don’t have to be elderly, sick, or living in a facility. Anybody can request this kind of care.”
