At Cypress HomeCare Solutions, our mission has always been rooted in compassion, dignity, and the belief that caregiving is one of the most meaningful acts of service. This month, our Managing Partner and Co-Founder, Bob Roth, received the Rev. Dr. Dosia Carlson Legacy Award at Duet: Partners In Health & Aging’s annual Giving in the Garden Party. For all who know him, this recognition reflects a lifetime of service and the heart of someone who has made caregiving his purpose.
This honor is more than a milestone. It is a deeply meaningful reminder of why this work matters and of the caregivers whose quiet dedication changes lives every single day.
A Life Shaped by Caregiving
Bob’s caregiving journey began nearly 40 years ago, long before the word “age-tech” existed and before “home care” became widely understood. As he shared in his acceptance remarks:
“My name is Bob Roth, and I am a caregiver.”
In 1985, Bob joined his father and brothers to care for his mother after a major heart attack changed the course of her life. That experience lasted 18 years and shaped him profoundly, not just as a son, but as a human being. In later years, he again stepped into the role, caring for his stepmother and, ultimately, his father.
These lived experiences became the foundation upon which Cypress HomeCare Solutions was built. They guide our culture, our values, and our belief that caregiving is not a burden, it is an honor.
As Bob said: “Caregiving is not a burden, it’s an honor, and it’s a labor of love.”
A Voice for Caregivers Everywhere
During his speech, Bob invited the caregivers in the room to raise their hands in recognition, a moving moment that captured the spirit of the award.
“You are truly the unsung heroes. You are the invisible army that makes a difference in another person’s life. You make incredible sacrifices every single day.”
He also spoke about the Hebrew concepts that have guided his caregiving philosophy: Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Hineni (here I am), and Tzedakah (righteous giving).
“These are not just words. These are principles that guide my life and guide all of us who serve.”
Bob challenged the community to stand up for older adults, to show up for family caregivers, and to never forget those who are aging alone or without support.
“Today, we stand for the elderly person who longs for companionship… for the grandparents raising a grandchild… for the family caregivers who give it all day in and day out.”
A Legacy of Service to Arizona’s Aging Community
Duet honored not just Bob’s personal caregiving journey but the decades he has devoted to strengthening Arizona’s aging-services landscape. He has served as a member of Duet’s Board of Directors, a founding member of the Meaning & Hope Institute National Advisory Council, a gubernatorial appointee to the Arizona Governor’s Advisory Council on Aging, and a contributing leader within organizations including the Home Care Association of America, Banner Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Arizona Geriatrics Society, and many others.
Across every role, Bob has worked to expand access, elevate caregivers, and ensure older adults can age with dignity, purpose, and connection. Duet also recognized the quiet ways he has supported their mission, connecting them with people, partners, and resources that have strengthened their reach for more than a decade.
Gratitude for a Community That Shows Up
Bob closed his remarks with deep gratitude for the team at Cypress and for his family, recognizing the love and support that make his work possible. “To my work family at Cypress HomeCare Solutions, thank you,” he said. “You make incredible sacrifices every single day to ensure that our clients live meaningful lives in the place where they feel safest.”
And to his wife and daughters, he offered a message that touched many in the audience: “I know the hours and energy I give to our agency and this community impact you too. I love you more than words could ever express.”
He also reflected on the influence of his parents, his mother, whose journey inspired his calling, and his father, whose leadership shaped his own. He shared one of his father’s favorite quotes from Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
Celebrating a Leader Who Repairs the World
At Cypress, we are proud beyond words to celebrate Bob’s achievement. His leadership, his determination, and his unwavering commitment to caregivers remind us daily that showing up matters, that choosing to say Hineni, “here I am,” is one of the most powerful gifts we can offer others.
Congratulations, Bob. Thank you for dedicating your life to repairing the world, one family, one caregiver, and one act of compassion at a time.
