In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older; places in which older people can participate to the fullest and find encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity.”
Spend today showing your appreciation and gratitiude for our seniors. Volunteer your time, extend a hug or lend a helping hand to a senior in need. Our seniors have done so much for us, today is our opportunity to give back.
If you are a senior citizen, enjoy this special day any way YOU want! Catch up on a favorite book or old movie, gardening, or visiting with your grandchildren. This is your day, and it should be spent relaxing any way you wish!
